General Searching
To search for something, simply enter the search term(s) into the box at the top of the page. This will return every instance of the term(s) found.
Special Operators
+ Plus Sign. Placing a plus sign in the front of a search term makes that a required term in the results.
- Minus Sign. Placing a minus sign in the front of a search term requires that it not be contained in the results. Searching for just a term with a minus sign will return empty results (e.g., -motegi).
"" Double Quotes. Placing double quotes around two or more terms will return the exact phrase contained within. Using the double quotes is necessary when search for a specific files (e.g., "filename.jpg").
* Asterisk. Placing an asterisk (or star) after a word causes it to search for a wildcard (e.g., apple* will return applesauce, apples, etc.).
? Question mark.A question mark matches any single character (e.g., t?re matches both tyre and tire).
~ Tilde. Placing a tilde after a single term does a "fuzzy" search that does not require an exact match (e.g., Ital~ matches Italy, Italian, and even vital).
~10 Tilde with number. You can search for one term near another by specifying a phrase followed by a tilde and a number. For example, "Ferrari France"~10 finds all photos where the word Ferrari is within 10 words of the word France.
AND, OR, NOT These terms have their usual search meanings. France AND tire returns only documents containing both terms. France OR tire returns documents containing one term or the other. France NOT tire returns documents containing France but not tire.
